An out of place artefact or an OOPArt for short, is an object that is not found in context, geologically or archaeologically, and it therefore challenges conventional historical and scientific chronology. They are often presented as evidence for human activity before humans are said to evolve or show that humans were more advanced at a time we are told we were primitive. For a start I don’t think OOPArts are all hoaxes as some suggest, I just think that many have been misinterpreted, and none quite as much as the most famous OOPArt of them all, which is this iron hammer and wooden handle, seemingly encased in solid rock, known as the London Hammer.
