Red Dead Redemption 2 - UK Rockstar Games Office Makes Overtime Optional Instead of Mandatory. In the recent news surrounding an interview with Rockstar Games Dan Houser, many people misconstrued a comment he made about specific employees contributing over 100 hour work weeks, otherwise known as "crunch" to complete various things for the upcoming highly anticipated video game "Red Dead Redemption 2". It has since been offered a clarification on the comment, but the effect of it has been heard by many in the gaming industry, and as such, many Rockstar Games employees have decided to voice their opinions on various social media platforms to both bring light to the bad working conditions they experience but also to refute the claims of poor working conditions, respectively. The effects of this interview and comment has led Rockstar Games to make changes to one of its UK offices (Rockstar Lincoln) and deem that overtime is no longer mandatory but optional. I think this is definitely a good thing that has happened as crunch is a real thing in the video game industry and these people/employees deserve to have their voices heard, which Rockstar was okay with them doing.
