Spirited Soul's video: Explore Dawki Traveler on a budget Beautiful Meghalaya Northeast Diaries-Part 5

Dawki is a place quite near to Shillong and located on the India Bangladesh border. We started around 8am, after breakfast, for Dawki. The road from Shillong to Dawki was again worth writing home about. The journey was amazing with music, friends and an awesome road to drive on. As you are about to reach Dawki, the last stretch of about 5 kms is the worst to drive on. The road is highly damaged, full of potholes and gets dusty when a vehicle is moving in front of yours. Photography is strictly prohibited on the bridge at Dawki. The sad part is that the bridge is the best spot to take some awesome pictures of the lake. Dawki is at the Indo-Bangladesh Border. While we were driving down to the lake, we saw a huge mass of people at the river bank. Also, we could see mining activity going on a large scale near the river. On reaching the spot, we realized that those people were from Bangladesh and we were actually at the border, which was a porous one. Too porous to be believable. BSF guarded the border but people would move from one side to another quite easily, despite the BSF soldiers best efforts to contain the people. It took us some time to get over the fact that we were actually standing at an international border. You have to see it yourself to believe it. After waiting for some time and negotiating with a contact, we got a camp to stay at the Dawki bank for the night. It was insane. That's all I can say about that night. That night will be in my heart FOREVER. Friends. Weed . Bonfire. Cold, clear night. Some great music. Jokes and taunts. And just the 12 of us. Enough to get a person high. Can't say much about that night. The tents costed us Rs 7500 for 12. It will be hard to find a place like this again.
