SMITE Cupid Voice Lines | "Love can hurt and you decide whether to share the happiness or the pain." - Cupid God of Love | An arrow from the bow of Cupid, chubby little God of Love, will make anyone give in to passion and desire. Cupid, as he was called by the Romans, is the son of Venus and Mars, or Aphrodite and Ares as they were known by the Greeks. He is the God of love and desire, flying about on feathery wings, shooting passion-tipped arrows at all the creatures of the earth. When struck with one of his arrows, man and beast alike fall in love with the next thing they see. Without Cupid's steady aim, there would be no love in this world, which is precisely what happened when Cupid fell in love himself. Psyche was a mortal of astounding beauty, which made Venus venomously jealous. Venus ordered Cupid to sting her with an arrow, then arranged for Psyche to fall in love with a spider. Invisible, Cupid reluctantly went to Psyche as she slept, yet, she woke suddenly and saw right through Cupid's invisibility. Surprised, Cupid cut himself on his own arrow and fell immediately in love with Psyche. Furious, Venus would not let Cupid marry Psyche, so Cupid stopped shooting arrows, people stopped falling in love, and stopped worshipping Venus. Panicked, the Goddess of beauty relented and Cupid went back to work. Psyche was whisked to a secret location. Cupid visited her only at night so she could not see who he was. Fearing him to be a terrible monster, Psyche waited for Cupid to fall asleep and lit a lantern. Surprised at what she found, she accidentally scraped one of Cupid's arrows and fell in love with him. Venus was displeased and forbade Psyche to see her son, forcing her to complete a series of impossible challenges that Psyche overcame only with mystical help. Finally, Cupid begged Jupiter to intervene. Casually, he declared Psyche and Cupid could be together. Thus, Cupid fed Psyche the drink of ambrosia that made her immortal and the God of love got to live happily ever after. Trivia General Cupid was the first Roman god introduced in SMITE. Cupid is the son of Mars and Venus. Cupid along with Anhur, Artemis, and Sobek are the only gods from SMITE Closed Beta that have yet to receive a major remodel. Cupid was turned into a magical god for a short period of time but was eventually changed into what he is today. Cupid, Ne Zha, and Ratatoskr are the only male gods voiced by a woman. One of Cupid's Low Health quotes, "I keep bleeding love.. Ouch!", is a reference to the song Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. One of Cupid's killstreak quotes, "Love is a battlefield!", is a reference to the song Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar. One of Cupid's taunts, "Shot to the heart and I'm to blame, baby", is a slightly altered version of a line in the song You Give Love a Bad Name by Jon Bon Jovi. Cupid's direct taunt towards Chaac, "Rain, rain, go away!", is a reference to the English nursery rhyme Rain, rain, go away. Cupid's direct taunt towards Sobek, "See you later, alligator!", is a reference to the song See You Later, Alligator by Bobby Charles. One of Cupid's jokes, "It is better to have loved and won than to have loved and lost... Loser!", is a reference to the poem In Memoriam A.H.H. by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. One of Cupid's jokes, "She loves me.. She loves me not.. *gasp* Oh, yeah! Ngh, there! She loves me!", is a reference to the French game He loves me... He loves me not. God Skins Loverboy In this skin, the ability Share the Love has its hearts replaced by Sweethearts. Lil' Devil This is one of the few skins that still uses its 3D model for its Card instead of a digital painted card art, the other ones being Feaster Bunny Bakasura, Red Demon Hun Batz, Solar Sentinel Ra, Blood Eagle Thor, Digi-MIR 9000 Ymir, and Stormbringer Zeus. Lucky Baby Fuwa This skin was based on traditions of the Chinese new year, such as firecrackers and dumplings that are common on this holiday. This skin shares its theme with Sacred Dragon Kukulkan. Bizzy B This skin's intro line "Bee. I'm a bumblebee, and I buzz buzz buzz, and I buzz buzz buzz!" is a reference to the viral video "The Kitty Cat Dance". His low lifeline "Can't touch this, honey!" could be a reference to the song "U Can't Touch This" by singer MC Hammer. His line for when he dies "I'll bee back." is a reference to the Terminator. Guttersniper This is the first skin where Cupid doesn't have wings. Trick or Treat This skin was based on the tradition of Trick or Treating during Halloween.
