The film was based on a tamil story " Bhuvana, oru kelvikkuri." I gave Mammootty the role which Rajanikanth did in Tamil.The same character made both actors famous. This is my second movie with Mammootty. Vilichu Vilikettu is a different type of love story,.Mahalakshmi the daughter of Tamil actors A.V.M.Rajan and Pushpalatha is the heroine. This is the only film for which I engaged another writer to write screenplay and dialogue. Thoppil Bhasi is the script writer of this film. I wrote story, and lyrics. Raveendran scored music.
