State Library South Australia's video: Fire Brigade Adelaide 1912

@Fire Brigade Adelaide 1912
Four horse-drawn fire engines leaving the Metropolitan Fire Brigade station in Wakefield Street, Adelaide, South Australia; fire engines approaching and passing on the street watched by a small crowd; firemen at a stationary engine; firemen drilling with ropes and ladders on a tower. This rare film sequence is an extract from a film held by the State Library of South Australia, and is possibly the oldest film recording in the collection. It is believed to date from around 1912, but could be as early as 1909. The Metropolitan Fire Brigade building seen here was opened in 1892. It was reconstructed in 1939 and then rebuilt again and opened in 1985.
