Statman Dave's video: How to Beat Julian Naglesmann s RB Leipzig

@How to Beat Julian Naglesmann’s RB Leipzig
► CHECK US OUT ON TWITCH: http://bit.ly/SMDTwitch Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man Utd travel to Leipzig to face Rb Leipzig in the final game of the group stages in the Champions League. So let’s take a look at how you can beat a Julian Nagelsmann team. Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig are one of the most exciting teams on the planet. Without the ball they press high and with it they use aggressive forward passes, positional rotation and excellent off the ball movement to break teams down. Under Nagelsmann, Leipzig have adopted a number of different shapes and formations but regardless of how they set up the same attacking principles remain. ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: http://bit.ly/StatmanDaveYoutube You have to be brave and press the German’s high up the pitch. As a progressive side, Leipzig look to play through pressure to create space higher up the pitch for the forwards. A sound strategy but any team who does this can be caught in possession and Leipzig are no exception. ► JOIN PATREON: https://bit.ly/StatmanPatreon Bayern Munich massively disrupted Leipzig from playing out of the back and controlling the game by pressing in a 3-1-3-3. This stopped Leipzig from their usual plan of playing centrally, forcing them to go long which Bayern’s centre backs dealt with easily, regaining possession. The loss of Timo Werner does reduce their direct threat in behind so you can afford to be braver and press them out of the back in a 3-1-3-3 to disrupt their play and force them to go long. Then when you’ve got control you need to play wide to stretch Leipzig horizontally, opening up lanes for dangerous underlaps. And by playing a ball carrier in central midfield, you can draw pressure which can further facilitate those underlaps. We saw Manchester United do this through Paul Pogba when the sides met in the Champions League. With the Frenchman picking up the ball, driving at Leipzig then splitting the defence with a through ball to Mason Greenwood. And finally by playing wide and drawing Leipzig’s press, you can create space for your supporting midfielders to get dangerous shots off from the edge of the box.
