@How Man Utd Can Beat Man City in the 2020/21 Premier League
Welcome back guys! Today we’ll be looking at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United can beat Guardiola’s Man City in the Manchester derby this weekend. ► CHECK US OUT ON TWITCH: http://bit.ly/SMDTwitch Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has an excellent record versus Man City and Pep Guardiola. In fact, Solskjaer has picked up more points per game against Pep than any other manager who’s faced him more than three times. And to go with Ole’s impressive record, Manchester City have started the season inconsistently, especially when you consider their lofty standards. This season, Manchester City have lined up in a 4-2-3-1. Pep’s usual gameplan has seen City attack in a 2-2-5-1, with the full backs holding the width allowing the three behind the striker to operate close to one another. ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: http://bit.ly/StatmanDaveYoutube With the current injury problems, form of certain players and the likelihood of playing on the counter, Ole’s hands are a bit tied with naming an attacking lineup who can hurt City for 90 minutes. This lineup would allow United to defend in a 4-4-2-0 low block. The wingers could track City’s full backs and prevent an overload when defending their box. Whilst if City decided to play through Man United centrally, the four energetic midfielders would make this difficult. Manchester United found it easy to create chances on the last trip to Etihad in the Premier League. With the ball, United need to be bold and play out from the back. City still look to counter press aggressively but their double pivot with Rodri isn’t the most mobile, so it can be bypassed and leave City exposed. ► JOIN PATREON: https://bit.ly/StatmanPatreon In United’s 2-1 derby win at the Etihad, we saw this. McTominay in possession as United look to build from the back, with City pressing in the same 4-2-3-1 they press in this season. He plays it to Lindelof who carries and returns it, allowing McTominay to turn and switch it to Lingard who’s in acres of space behind City’s midfield lines. He carries and gives it to Rashford who drives and slips Lingard in, forcing a good save from Ederson. We saw Spurs punish City with runs from out to in with Son’s goal. Hojbjerg with a free kick. He plays short to Ndombele who shifts Bernardo and lifts it over the top for Son to take a touch and finish. Everything about this goal could be replicated by United. Bruno Fernandes receiving the free kick and eventually playing the pass, Donny dropping off the line to take the attention of City’s defenders and Mason Greenwood making the run off the full back and finishing.
