Statman Dave's video: How Ozan Kabak Will Fit into Jurgen Klopp s Liverpool Starting XI Formation Tactics

@How Ozan Kabak Will Fit into Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool | Starting XI, Formation & Tactics
Welcome back guys! Today we’ll be taking a look at how Ozan Kabak will fit into Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Liverpool have struggled with injuries to their centre backs this season. First losing Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and recently Joel Matip too. So we could see Ozan Kabak come straight into the Liverpool setup. ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: http://bit.ly/StatmanDaveYoutube So what can we expect from the Turkish international? Kabak is a modern day centre back. He combines the physicality & defensive awareness of the classic role and blends it with composure in possession and the technical ability to play out from the back. His experience playing in David Wagner’s vertical Schalke side means statistically he doesn’t look as polished as he actually is. He’s completed just 42.7% of his long passes this season with an overall completion rate of 87.9%. Those rates aren’t terrible, not by a long shot, but they are worse than the average for Liverpool’s centre backs. ► CHECK US OUT ON TWITCH: http://bit.ly/SMDTwitch But Kabak really is composed with the ball at his feet. He’s not afraid to beat pressure with a dribble, dropping a shoulder and escaping pressure before playing forward. In terms of passing style he’s the vertical passer at the back. With Schalke looking to get the ball to the 20 year old and allowing him to play direct, long range passes up to the forwards or advanced full backs. This directness isn’t too different from Liverpool’s style of play under Jurgen Klopp except that it comes from both centre backs. In fact we’ve seen a number of goals scored by the Reds come from this direct method, notably Sadio Mane’s goal against Bayern in 2019. ► JOIN PATREON: https://bit.ly/StatmanPatreon Ozan Kabak Is quite an active defender and is always happy to put in a tackle but he’s not a mindless stopper. Kabak is actually quite an intelligent defender with good positioning and awareness. He reads the play very well and is good at cutting out passes and then carrying the ball out of defence. Whilst when he’s defending his own third he often looks to force attackers away from goal where he knows he’s got the pace and physicality to control the situation. If we’re looking to next season and beyond, the aggressive style of Kabak could make him an ideal partner to Virgil van Dijk who very much likes to drop off when defending.
