Statman Dave's video: Who is Darwin Nu ez And Why Is He Chased By Most of the Premier League

@Who is Darwin Nuñez? And Why Is He Chased By Most of the Premier League?
Welcome back! Today we’re taking a look at Benfica’s latest superstar in the making and answering the questions: Who is Darwin Nunez? And Why Is He Chased By Most of the Premier League? Statman Dave Clips ➡ http://bit.ly/StatmanClips Born in Artigas, Uruguay on the 24th June 1999, Darwin Gabriel Nunez Ribeiro is a full Uruguayan international who plays for Benfica. Starting at amateur side La Luz, Nunez was signed by CA Peñarol in 2013 at 14 years old. Two seasons, 22 appearances and 4 goals later, Nunez was sold to UD Almeria in the Spanish second tier for around 12 million pounds. Directly involved in 18 goals in 30 appearances in his proper season in the starting eleven, Nunez was snapped up by Benfica ahead of the 2020-2021 season for 22 million. Starting life in Portugal as more of a creator, the current, and his, second season for Benfica has been much more prolific, scoring 20 goals in 22 Liga Portugal appearances. ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: http://bit.ly/StatmanDaveYoutube Unsurprisingly, given his goal returns, Darwin Nunez is a centre forward but he’s played as a left winger and even operating as a second striker behind a strike partner. Nunez is a physical handful. Standing just under 6 foot 2, Nunez is also lightning quick and this is his most dangerous attribute. In the 21/22 Champions League, Nuñez has reached a top speed quicker than the likes of Mo Salah, Leroy Sané, Kyle Walker and Kylian Mbappé. Darwin Nunez combines his extraordinary physical attributes with great off the ball movement. He’s always combining little movements with darts in behind to manipulate the opposition’s defence. Used as a constant outball for Benfica, Nuñez has been most effective when he’s played alongside a strike partner. He’s still a big threat when he plays as a lone forward but he likes to take up wide starting positions, often standing on the blindside of a full back. However, the Uruguayan international is not the finished article. He’s still a very raw player that needs to hone his craft if he’s to perform consistently at the very top level. His first touch is quite unpredictable and it does let him down. This hampers his ability to link the play and his lack of aggression when in possession make it difficult for him to play with his back to goal and he struggles to consistently make the right decisions. But as Nunez matures these aspects of his play will improve. His rise has been meteoric and he’s already scored against the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich in Europe’s top competition, showing he’s already got the mentality to play at that level. His combination of powerful running, athletic frame and accurate finishing will allow him to score goals at any level and he’s only going to get better. Right now he’s perfectly suited to a counter attacking system but he does have something special about his game. ► CHECK US OUT ON TWITCH: http://bit.ly/SMDTwitch So what’s next for the Uruguayan hitman? Following his Champions League heroics against Ajax, carrying Benfica through to the quarter finals for the first time in 5 years, Darwin Nunez is reportedly being chased by most of Europe. If reports are to be believed, Dortmund, AC Milan and Bayern Munich are all monitoring his progress, meanwhile Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all supposedly interested. Of the clubs interested, a move to Manchester United to play as the long term number 9, replacing Cristiano Ronaldo and compatriot Edinson Cavani, or to Borussia Dortmund to replace Erling Haaland would be smart moves, giving Nunez time to keep improving without the pressure of challenging for league titles. Still only 22, Darwin Nunez is still learning his trade and whilst he’s ready for a new challenge, a big move too soon could stunt his development. But what do you think? Where should Darwin Nunez be playing his football next season? Chelsea? Arsenal? Borussia Dortmund? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
