@Throw Pillow Cover DIY with Stencils
Welcome to another DIY tutorial from Oak Lane Studio. In this stencil tutorial we show you how to decorate a fabric throw pillow cover using the antique farmhouse style Gather Here stencil. If you like chickens then you'll like this design! We used the following tools for this DIY project. Gather Here Stencil - https://bit.ly/2W1Xdrs Repositionable Spray Adhesive - https://bit.ly/2PGiMeu Americana Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint - https://bit.ly/2F3keDE Americana Fabric Painting Medium - https://bit.ly/2GnOXOU White Bristle Stencil Brush - https://bit.ly/2T5vuUV To stencil on fabric you will need a flat surface beneath the stencil surface. To prevent the fabric from shifting use a coat of repositionable spray adhesive on the cardboard before putting it into the pillow case. Give the spray 30-60 seconds to become tacky first. With the fabric secured use the repositionable spray adhesive once more on the back of the stencil, wait 30-60 seconds, then press in place over the pillow case. Using a paper or styrofoam plate as a palette, mix Americana acrylic paint with fabric painting medium 2:1. The fabric painting medium makes your acrylic paint machine washable. After mixing the paint with the stencil brush, swirl the excess paint off onto a paper towel until it feels just about dry to the touch. Hardly any paint should be coming off the brush. This is known as the dry brush technique and it prevents paint from bleeding beneath the edges of the stencil. Begin swirling your stencil brush into the design in several light coats of paint. By building the color slowly you ensure that the color will be consistent and the edges of the design will be crisp. Anytime the brush no longer swirls paint into the design, swirl more paint into the brush, and swirl the excess off onto paper towel. After 3-4 light coats of paint you will have the perfect amount of coverage. After stenciling the design gently peel off the stencil, remove the cardboard, and put a pillow in it! You will need to give your new diy chicken stenciled pillow case 24 hours to cure before washing. This stencil is perfect for any antique farmhouse home decor theme.
