@Pixel RL-18L Ring Light Unboxing & Quick Review
Check out this Pixel RL-18L on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2VRcDTM I also have a GEEKOTO 18" Ring Light (Amazon Link: https://amzn.to/2JQAwUg ) Watch that video here: https://youtu.be/Y4-QfxKU0u8 ——————————————————————— The PIXEL RL-18L contains everything you need to light your photo or video projects. This light ring comes with changeable color filters to change the color temperature to suit your needs (orange & white for warm or cooler pictures/video). While the description for this product claims this light is able to dim from 1%-100%, this light doesn't get close to 1%, I would guess that my light starts about 40% of maximum brightness, but shouldn't be an issue for most uses. The dimmer dial also serves as the on/off switch. The camera mounting accessories mount onto this light in an odd fashion. There is a plastic slot that the mounts slide into them tightens down onto (see pictures). While this plastic slot does appear solid & sturdy enough, a heavy camera could take its told on the plastic. I would suggest, if using ultra heavy cameras, use another camera tripod and shoot through the light ring from behind. The included power block comes with a pretty long power cord, but the use of a unique power jack into the light (see photos) makes me worry about finding a replacement power block if this one fails. This unique jack also contains a smart locking feature that will keep the cord from getting pulled out accidentally. The included hardware is a solid metal construction. The included light stand comes with 3 extendable sections to raise the light and the top of the stand has a 1/4" screw that allows the stand to be used without the light on it. (A camera could be mounted directly to the top of the stand) The storage bag that come with this kit needs some improvement. While it fits everything, the storage pockets for all accessories just drops all items to the bottom of the bag. A smaller pouch in the center of the bag would have been a better idea to keep all accessories centered in the opening of the light ring when all items are in the bag. I suggest keeping the included accessory box or a Ziploc bag for this problem. Pros: All accessories are a quality metal. Lighting is bright enough for most uses. Price is in line with similar styles. Tripod can be used alone without light attached. Cons: Plastic slot for attaching camera mount could break over time or weight. Attaching color lens is annoying when trying to adjust lighting temperature. Power block with unique connector could make finding a replacement difficult. Brightness doesn't get close to the advertised 1% brightness.
