Story Cycle's video: Green Growth s Dewa Apple

@Green Growth's Dewa Apple
Dhye is a small village located in Upper Mustang (around 3300 meters elevation) of 26 households with about 300 people. Dhye people, very affected by climate change making their livelihood impossible to sustain, decided to leave their traditional village in 2011 and moved down to the Thangchung plateau, nearby the river. The climate change has disturbed this delicate balance of life of Dhye people making them first climate refugee of Himalayan Country. Due to limited livelihood options and scarce natural resources like access to water, they grow wheat, naked barley and maize which need little water. They practice animal husbandry, mostly mountain goat, sheep, and high altitude cattle  like yak that grow thick fur and can withstand severe cold and drought because they can thrive on thorny plants.  Apple farming is one of the major economic activities developed to support Dhye resettlement. Locals of Dhye largely depend on subsistence farming for sustenance and also have an apple orchard, as the environment is found to be very suitable for the apple production. These apples grown in higher elevation have a delicious taste and alluring appearance. Dhye people have expressed their desire to market all their surplus produce as ‘བདེ་བ Dewa products’. Green Growth a tech-based agribusiness helped to endorse Dewa apple through its channel like weekly baskets, outlets and events for urban/peri urban consumers. Green Growth also hosted a series of events ‘ Taste of Dewa Syaau’ to promote dewa apples with  Raithaane and  Juice mandala. Raithaane is food Business inspired by food culture across ethnicities in Nepal and Nepali produce. Juice mandala is a juice cafe that offers fresh juices with vegan and vegetarian food.
