One of the most mysterious places on the planet, the Bermuda Triangle has been the location of the disappearance of several ships and aircrafts. So where did all these vehicles and their passengers disappear off to. Is there a scientific explanation or a supernatural element. The Bermuda Triangle is located in the Northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s in close proximity to Miami and Puerto Rico. This area also nicknamed as the Devil’s Triangle covers an area of 500,000 square miles across the ocean. As far back as 1945, 5 flights that took off for a training from Florida never returned to the naval base. To make matters worse, the rescue boat too vanished. In the 60s, the cabin cruiser Witchcraft and the USS Scorpion , a nuclear powered submarine both went missing over the Bermuda Triangle. The 70s, 80s and 90s too saw ships and flights disappear over the region. Let's take a look at some of the most popular Bermuda Triangle theories over the years: First up is the Methane Gas theory- according to some researchers the area around the Bermuda Triangle is rich in methane gas. This causes ships to sink and airplanes to crash so quickly that they almost cannot send out any SOS in time. Next is water tornados- the area around the Bermuda Triangle is prone to water tornadoes which can cause ships to disappear without a trace. Water tornadoes can reach quite high up during a storm and may even cause an airplane to crash. This is especially true if its a small airplane like a cessna jet. Some theorists have suggested wormholes- this one is for all sci-fi fans. Wormholes are said to be shortcuts in space and time travel. Wormholes haven't been concretely proved yet but this theory has a huge fan following among those who love conspiracies. Another theory is that accidents happen here due to human error. A little known fact that compasses often malfunction here and are unable to point north. This explains why many get lost at sea and may even end up crashing. According to new research, the reason for so many catastrophic events over the Bermuda Triangle is giant sea waves. A rogue wave can get as high as 100 feet and have a force of over 9 metric tonnes. This is basically a terrifying no brainer that can wipe out anything in its path. Scientists even suspect the presence of colossal rogue waves that could almost reach 200 feet. This is as tall as a towering skyscraper.To make matters even more concrete, the area around the Bermuda Triangle has been found to have some of the most active spots for rogue waves. The constant colliding storms and unstable energies can definitely lead to huge rogue waves that drown ships leaving them no time to call for help.
