StoryofAmerica's video: BlackLivesMatter Candle-light Vigil in Washington DC

On Dec. 12, 2014, religious leaders in Washington DC organized a candle-light vigil to stand together in love and light for justice. From 6:00 to 8:00 pm, people lined six and half miles of 16th Street from the White House to the DC/MD line at Silver Spring, holding candles and lanterns as we “light the way for justice.” At 6:00 pm, churches along the street rang their bells, “not as a protest, but as a promise.” The following churches participated: Silver Spring UMCs -- Circle at DC/SS line to Kalmia The Washington Ethical Society – Kalmia to Hemlock Emory Fellowship UMC – Tuckerman to Rittenhouse Plymouth Congregational UCC -- Rittenhouse to Military 19th Street Baptist – Decatur to Buchanan People's Congregational UCC –Buchanan to Webster Sts, NW St. Stephen's Episcopal Church – Oak to Park All Souls Church, UU – Harvard – W Sts, NW Lincoln Temple UCC – R to Q Sts.
