Daryl Johnson, President of the Morris Avenue Tenants Coalition, a proud Democrat and candidate for the City Council in the 16th District. Mr. Johnson is running for City Council because our community, which is one of New York's most diverse, has many critical needs. While some crime rates have dropped, shootings and felonies in our District remain at unacceptably high levels. Our schools are often times failing our kids and many score far too poorly academically we must re purpose our efforts. Asthma and chronic and sometime preventable disease are soaring. We are among the poorest urban districts in the United States and we deserve better. We deserve to and will be treated with respect — by government agencies — by police officers, and sadly in all too many cases — by some elected officials.
