Nelson is a pioneer in throatboxing, which is a unique art form blending traditional Inuit throat singing and beat-boxing. Learn more and try to create your own sounds with this video presentation! Originally from Baker Lake, Nelson Tagoona has performed since the age of 15, leveraging his talents and personal story to inspire youth through initiatives such as the non-profit organization Blueprint for Life, and the National Centre for the Arts' Music Alive program. Nelson's performances have received national recognition including the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, and he was named one of the "Top 10 Canadian Artists under 20" by CBC Music.
