Stylish D Tailors's video: Look Muscular In A Great Fitting Gym Shirt EASY Tailoring Tutorial

@Look Muscular In A Great Fitting Gym Shirt (EASY Tailoring Tutorial)
When you work out you want your shirt to wick away the moisture from your body. The only way it can do that is to have contact with your skin right? Well let's turn this baggy Target workout shirt into something more fitted and squat and deadlift ready! First thing you want to do is turn your shirt inside out. We're going to use what I call the pinch method. Pinch the sides of your shirt and see what fit you feel comfortable with. Too tight? Go back out a little bit, the sky is the limit so do what you feel most comfortable with. When you find that fit put a safety pin in it and do the same for the opposite side. You want to have at least 4 safety pins in each side, but more is ok too. If you have a friend who can help you then perfect! All of mine make fun of me for making sewing tutorials on the internet so I'm a one man show. Anyway, once you have your safety pins in there measure and see where they are at. You can also move them around a little bit to make sure they are all even and symmetrical with each other. and write those measurements down! That way you can skip doing this for this size shirt in the future. For instance. My perfect workout shirt fits as follows. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll put my pins at 4 inches, 8 inches, 12 inches, 16 inches, and 18 inches Then I will adjust each pin at those measurements to: 1, 1.5, 2, 1.5, .5 I don't even measure anymore, I just buy the shirt and put those measurements in each time, boom done! If I get another shirt from another brand I will try those measurements, but I will try it on to see how close or how far away I am from my perfect workout shirt. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are the settings you want to use on your sewing machine: (Literally any $50 sewing machine can do these settings) Stitch type: zigzag stitch Stitch width - 1 Stitch length: 2.5 Stitch tension: 1-3 Polyester thread Universal needle 80/12 We are essentially making what's called a narrow zigzag stitch. If we used a straight stitch on here it wouldn't be as strong as we wanted it to be. If we wore it to the gym we risk the stitch not being able to stretch with the shirt. A narrow zigzag stitch however will allow us to maintain that elasticity of our shirt and stretch just fine with it. When you're done you want to cut off the extra fabric leaving about 5/8ths of an inch or 15 mm. Usually you would want to put a zigzag stitch on the edge to prevent it from fraying BUT synthetic fabrics like this don't fray very easily which is great. So we can just cut it and be done! Time for deadlifts! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- //WATCH NEXT: ○ Sweatpants To Slim Fit Joggers - https://youtu.be/T6nRUr_YzUM ○ Dress Shirt Tailoring Tutorial (NO MACHINE NEEDED) - https://youtu.be/I8IimTNEi4A ○ T-Shirt Slimming Tutorial - https://youtu.be/r7ZH-Yo-jHw ○ Hoodie Tailoring Tutorial- https://youtu.be/FgOfh0AtNeQ 🔴 Subscribe here - https://www.youtube.com/c/stylishdad?sub_confirmation=1 🔴 Become a channel member to access my beginners tailoring course! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- //CONTACT ME Viewer questions?: Hello@Stylishdtailors.com Business inquires ONLY: Business@Stylishdtailors.com //Mail: PO Box 1085 Chanhassen, MN 35210 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases 👊🏾GREAT Beginners Sewing Machine - https://amzn.to/3GKKEsq 👊🏾DIY Hand Sewing Kit - https://amzn.to/3fGx39G 👊🏾Heavy Duty Sewing Machine -https://amzn.to/3KsW6Lq --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brush patterns and shapes were provided by https://www.brusheezy.com
