@Debate: Controlling Twitter, really necessary? Pt 2
The Government moving to crack down on micro blogging website Twitter, a day after the Ministry asked Twitter to block 18 accounts-- from which inflammatory content was allegedly uploaded, sparking panic among people from the north-east. The Ministry of Home Affairs writing to the Information Technology Ministry, directing it to block the erring Twitter accounts if the micro blogging website did not comply. Sources in the Home Ministry maintain that no individual handle is being blocked. However, some reports suggest that ISPs have gone ahead and blocked accounts of some who had no link to hate content. In a debate moderated by TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, panelists Rahul Easwar, Social Activist; Rajesh Kalra, Chief Editor, Times Internet Ltd; Suhel Seth, Managing Partner Counselage; Chetan Bhagat, Author; Subimal Bhattacharjee, Cyber Space Analyst and Aryama Sundaram, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court debate the issue.
