The EMD GT46MAC is a freight-hauling diesel locomotive designed by General Motors Electro-Motive Diesel in 1997–1998 for Indian Railways, where they are classed as WDG-4 by Indian Railways. First 13 locomotives were built by EMD and remaining are built by Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi. The class entered operation in 1999 with the locomotive numbering starting from 12001. This locomotive has the capability of touching 105 km/h speed with a fully loaded freight train of 58 wagons. One of the original imported locomotives, GT46MAC - WDG4/12004 homed at Hubli DLS along with its shed mate WDG4/12112 hauling BCN wagons towards Mangalore. Sad part is WDG4/12004 is now withdrawn from service and sent for conversion to WAG11 electric locomotive.
