Since the start date of this mod is 1155, the Holy Roman Empire campaign starts with my fav Emperor Fredrick I Barbarossa but this is a custom battle tho, for checking the HRE units & they are really to my liking with the black Imperial Eagle on the yellow field tunics. These kinds of small details may not look much to others but i really appreciate them & i look for detail in everything, cos such details show its a great work. In this battle, both sides fought hard & i took alot of casualties that at one point i thought i was gonna lose it. The Muslim & of other eastern faction'n Heavy cavalry have lamellar armor & are protected well compared to my naked horses or chainmailed horses. Its historical accurate however, that Easterners in the medieval had lamellar or scale armor much before Europeans had plate armor. There are stories of the crusaders of the 1st Crusade in the 11th century stating a certain knight wrote how he was amazed in battle when he saw some of the seljuk cavalry that were so well armored from head to toe, both the horse & its rider. The crusaders that time had mostly nasal helmets & chainmail & a few had like a protective waist-coat undernieth their tunics with blocks of iron or steel, one near the other, going around the breast & back, i forget what they'r called.
