@M2TW/Kingdoms Teutonic: The Siege of Marienburg 1410 (Late Teutonic Knights)
If you wanna skip the showing of forces i recommend you to skip the first 8 minutes. Since the redbrick castles & fortresses in custom battles are only playable in Kingdoms Teutonic, i couldn't make this one (a better version of the siege with late Knights) on any of my other mods, cos neither one has redbrick castles in custom, so i had to make it on Kingdoms Teutonic. I would have preferred to have historically accurate Lithuanians like in Deus lo Vult or Stainless Steel, but since Marienburg (Malbork Castle) is a redbrick castle, i had to sacrifice accurate Lithuanians to the redbrick castle. After the Battle of Tannenberg (Grunwald) 1410, the Polish King Wladislaw Jagiello & Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania thought they could take the Teutonic Order's HQ of Marienburg (Malbork Castle) now that the bulk of the Teutonic Knights were killed or captured at Grunwald, so they besieged the Order's HQ Castle hoping to annihilate the Order of the Teutonic Knights. The castle of Marienburg was manned by only 1,427 Grunwald survivors (other survivors were still in captivity, the Polish captured some 14,000 Teutons at Grunwald), 3,000 reserves & 200 seamen from Danzig (Gdansk), 4,627 in all. Leading them was the Teutonic Gross Komtur (Grand Commander) of Schwetz Heinrich von Plauen who later became the 27th Grand Master of the Order. Besieging the castle were 15,000 Poles commanded by King Wladislaw Jagiello and 13,000 Lithuanians commanded by Grand Duke Vytautas, 28,000 Poles & Lithuanians in all. The siege lasted 2 months, it started on the 18th July till the 19th September 1410 and while the Teutonic Order repulsed the Polish-Lithuanian attacks in defending Marienburg they gave them a small payback for their dead brothers at Tannenberg (Grunwald) & suffered only minor casualties. During the siege, Jagiello sent men to capture the other undefended Teutonic fortresses. However, keeping the Polish-Lithuanian forces at bay during the siege helped to organise defensive forces in other parts of Prussia while other German & the Livonian Order forces were already marching to Marienburg. When Marienburg was successfully defended and the Polish-Lithuanians retreated to their homes, Von Plauen ordered to pursue the retreating enemies and the Teutonic Order captured again most of the fallen fortresses back in the Order's hands. The Teutonic Gross Komtur Heinrich von Plauen is regarded as the saviour of the Teutonic Order of st.Mary of Jerusalem from total annihilation and a Hero of the Order. Later he was elected the 27th Grand Master of the Teutonic Order and wanted to keep on fighting the war with the Poles & Lithuanians but the Order was still recovering from the losses at the Grunwald battle and unfortunatly was told to step down after as his Teutonic brothers didn't want him to go on with the war. However, the war ended with the Peace of Thorn 1411 which was in favor of the Teutonics due to successful diplomatic negotiations.
