This year in the Secret Garden of Survival, we have had a very mild winter in the Appalachian Mountains, and although we have had some snow and cold winter days, we now have pear, cherry and peach trees starting to blossom. If there is a hard frost before Spring, we could lose a lot of fruit. Last year during the winter we had the same problem, but I saved the fruit by going out at night during a frost to spraying water on our fruit trees to protect the blossoms (using freezing water, like they do when citrus groves have a hard freeze).
