India got freedom on 15th August 1947. But do you know why that specific day was chosen? In this video, we will look at the history of "Independence Day". Along with that, I have touched various historical facts related to the Independence Movement. In 1929, when the then Congress President Jawaharlal Nehru called for "poorna swaraj" -- complete independence -- the date picked, was January 26. The following year, party members took to celebrating January 26 as Independence Day, in anticipation and the trend caught on. But the events unfolding in later years gave us August 15 as the Indian Independence Day, while January 26, 1950, became Republic Day, marking the day the Indian constitution came into effect. 🎦 Hey Guys, I upload one video every week (Mostly on Thursday).
