Sutherland Shire Council's video: Sutherland Shire Shorebirds

@Sutherland Shire Shorebirds
You might notice some incredible visitors to Sutherland Shire. It’s the stuff of a David Attenborough documentary – migratory birds roosting in Deeban Spit and Gunnamatta Bay have completed epic journeys of thousands of kilometres to Siberia and the Arctic. They need YOUR help. We can all come together as a community to protect critically endangered species like the Eastern curlew. - Keep dogs ON LEAD in leashed areas and do NOT take dogs in the vicinity of roosting areas as they will scare parents from nests - If you see these shorebirds ahead, walk around them – allow 100m of space where possible. - Educate others, including children, about not disturbing wildlife. - Look out for signage and temporary fences installed to protect nest sites - Remove rubbish or discarded fishing line which can trap chicks All video footage generously provided by Julie Keating.
