To measure the development of a Nation, the best measuring instrument is the treatment of the women , according to Vivekananda. Only a Nation which respects its women can boast of Development.Athman being similar and with no dualities is same in man and woman. And only if there is jnana and devotion, a woman can be resected and worshipped. Spirituality is not religion. People who doesn't have spirituality, and who believe that enjoying all sorts of physical pleasures is their birthright, naturally destroy not only the economy but also the womenfolk of the Nation. Therefore, for development of any Nation, one has to understand the importance of Education for women. For free development of Nation, this is highly essential. At that time, widow remarriage was being discussed in different parts of the country. Because young girls were married to old people and widowhood was common. But Vivekananda was not in favour of widow mariages. What he said was, getting into another marriage, is not a solution for problems of Nation, Instead all girls should be given proper Education , so that she can live without depending on man forever. That was a better solution for the Nation. My opinion also is that. Instead of a second marriage, give the girl education to live with economical selfsufficiency. All parents should give Education to their daughters so that she is independent in her life.
