Sometimes a family or a household can consist of two individuals (parent & adult child or husband and wife) with a personality disorder. A mother and daughter, a father and son, or blended families may find it difficult to live under the same roof with someone who has borderline personality disorder. Borderline personality (BPD) is a complex diagnosis that can lead to instability in family relationships, stormy social relationships, and complex parent-child dynamics. If the mother is not treated properly or treated at all the disorder can worsen. But what happens when the person with BPD is your mother -- and blames everyone else in the family for the instability of the home but herself?
