With blue skies, cumulus and a southerly wind, an 89 km triangle task was set to the northeast of Baixo Guandu, into an area known as Pancas. The scenery more than lived up to expectations, great granite domes with vegetation on top, pinnacles dappled in sunlight, stunning peaks, mini Sugar Loaf mountains, the type of scenery where you expect to see dinosaurs munching on the lush green vegetation… Michael Sigel has won every Baixo Guando World Cup task 5 ever held, but unfortunately that wasn’t to be the case again today. Andreas (Pepe) Malecki flew back from Pancas high and came speeding across ESS with enough altitude to go off for another lap, having enjoyed the first one so much! What a day, especially for the 84 pilots who made goal. In summary, in the words of world Cup veteran Andreas (Pepe) Malecki, "The best task that has ever been set in Baixo Guandu."
