@John Deere 544A and 624k, please read description
I look at the difference in 40 something years in wheel loaders. I’m not completely sure what year the 544A is, I know they we’re built during the 70s. We still use the 544A, it mainly stays in a local gravel pit so if we need a quick load of material we don’t need to drive the 624K five miles to the pit. If we do need several loads the 624K goes to the pit and I will load and stockpile as much gravel as I can. Then when it is only the 544A in the pit it doesn’t have to dig into the bank, it can load out the stockpile of loose material. We have only had the 544A for around six years and it pretty much looks the same as when we got it. It has an issue with the steering where it hesitates when you turn to the left. All you can do is turn the wheel all the way and wait, it will eventually turn. Once you know how it acts you can work around it. The steering is a fixable problem but it’s one of those things that is more irritating than anything and my dad is the one who operates it the most, so that’s his call. I have had the 624K for just over a year, after spending an afternoon in the 544A losing my mind and having a need for a machine with a snowplow and wing I had enough and started looking at newer loaders. Hope you enjoy the video and the sound of the old 544A and no i was not the one who broke the windshield in the 544A.
