How can you create crucial moments that change your life trajectory? How do you step around what holds you back? In 2020 I began exploring these questions prompted by my own experience. As a fourteen-year-old, I was too afraid to go on school trips. Today I am a global traveler and expedition leader, I have taken many journeys over six continents, but what enabled me to step out into the world? I am a regular runner, not a purist or hardened athlete. I use this activity to keep fit and burn off the cake and biscuits I consume, and most importantly, in reflection, as a way of keeping my life perspective wide and dynamic. In my exploration, I delve into neuroscience to provide perspective and understanding of human tendencies that both protect us and can also prevent our creativity, our dynamism, our desires to achieve or make big dreams. How our body functions and processes according to what we think provides insight in understanding and harnessing all that we innately have, without any superhuman skills, just as we are to overcome our small self and step into our own broad, flourishing onward life story I am a generalist, combining my different skills and insights in my life and work as a creative, facilitator and expedition leader. I’m driven by a creative passion for enabling human potential. In March 2020 I began a photography project combining images and words to explore human experience, the everyday things, the zeitgeist of this most unusual time in my life history. As we all became more inward in our thinking and movements during time in lockdown, I began considering my own journey from teenager who was too scared to go on school trips to a global expedition leader, focusing on what had enabled me to eventually step out and embrace world experience in a big way.
