He is the current IBF heavyweight champion, having previously held the British, Commonwealth and WBC International heavyweight titles. As an amateur he won a gold medal in the super-heavyweight division at the 2012 Olympics, and silver at the 2011 World Championships. As of May 2016, Joshua is ranked the world's seventh best heavyweight boxer by The Ring magazine, and currently boasts a 100% knockout ratio. Joshua is the second British boxer, after James DeGale, to win both a gold medal at the Olympics and a world title by a major professional sanctioning body, as well as being the first British heavyweight to do so. He is also only the second boxer in history, after Joe Frazier, to win a professional world heavyweight title while still reigning as the Olympic champion at the top weight. "I do bodyweight training and weights, but I do much more bodyweight training. It gives me an opportunity to work on my cardio as well with explosive jumps and all that. But if I do weights, I like to do legs, lots of squats." What sort of conditioning do you use to get yourself fight-ready? AJ: Well, I look at my frame. The power in my punches has a long way to travel because I’m a tall guy, and for tall guys it’s easy to be weak in the middle. I do a lot of core and rotational movements to generate power, so when it comes to transferring that power into my boxing it’s already there. I do a lot of shadow-boxing work in the sand, because it’s an unstable surface. It helps to condition my legs. I took it from the Brazilians, who play an elite level of football in the sand. That’s why they’re so good. The Master (mmamaster) presents our youtube exercises guide with best exercise videos, workout motivation and sports tips to help you reach your fitness goals.
