U.S. Marines, belonging to the 3d Reconnaissance Battalion of the 3d Marine Division, participated in the annual Balikatan 23 training exercise held at the Marine Base Gregorio Lim in April 2023. The event involved a live-fire range where the Marines underwent sniper and machine gun training exercises, collaborating closely with their Philippine Marine counterparts. The training exercise provided the opportunity for both the U.S. and Philippine Marines to strengthen their skills in marksmanship, which is essential to combat readiness. The partnership between the two countries further enhances their military capabilities, especially in terms of coordinating joint military exercises, increasing operational proficiency, and strengthening their mutual defense.
