The 148th Infantry Regiment (148th Infantry Regiment Veterans Association) of the 37th Division (37th Infantry Division in WWII, Buckeye: The 37th Infantry Division and Brigade - A Century of Service) engages in the Battle for Manila during this daring campaign in WWII. They are today's 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, of the Ohio National Guard and this is their history. Rodriguez is the only of the seven recipients in the 37th to receive the Medal of Honor during World War Two. Rodriguez is the only one who did not receive it posthumously. He's still able to pick up the wounded soldier he was carrying Get him back to the American lines before he collapses and dies there. And, uh, Machete is also awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on that day. For the next about a week to 10 days, you have the regiment attacking towards the Manila Bay. The regiment encounters their first sort of big building. They encounter is the Philippine General Hospital and the university area near the bay in which the Japanese had turned a series of these buildings which were bombproof reinforced concrete earthquake-proof.
