Facts About SANITARY PADS Every should Must Know. 1. First menstrual pads were introduced in early 10th century in the Suda [Mediterranean country], when a woman throw a used menstrual napkin at an admirer, in order to discourage him. 2. Benjamin Franklin discovered a design pad for soldiers to save them with buckshot wound, which later came to be known as disposable menstrual pads. 3. In 1896, first commercially American disposal menstrual pad was created by Johnson & Johnson. 4. The company which produced menstrual pads was mostly into production of bandage, which would give them a rough idea on how to stop the blood just like what bandage did. 5. In olden days, women were allowed to put the exact price of the pads in a box, and then take the box of pad from the counter itself without speaking. 6. Material used in making sanitary pads was changed after 1980 as the material was not much absorbent and leakage was the major problem. 7. Many of the pads producing company came out with an idea of introducing the pattern of wings and using products such as Sphagnum and polyacrylate superabsorbent gel often derived from petroleum. 8. In underdeveloped countries, reusable pads were used to collect menstrual blood and rags, soil or mud were used to collect menstruating flow. 9. Many of the people who experience urinary incontinence use menstrual pads to manage the bladder leaks. 10. Cloth pads are still used by many women due to health reasons as commercial and panty liners have proved to use synthetic material which affects the health suffocating the area too.
