TM Aquatics's video: Rarest Tetra in Fish Keeping: Hemigrammus coeruleus

This week I added some extremely rare wild caught fish to my fish room. The Hemigrammus Coreuleus is a tetra rarely seen in the hobby and one of the most sought after. They are a larger schooling tetra, reaching 2.3” in length. Both male and female have a neon pink line down their side, but when males get conditioned to spawn, they turn bright ruby red with a red laser line. There are no known common names, but I have seen these fish referred to as the “Watermelon Tetra” and the “Coreulean Pink Tetra”, but I’m calling them the “Red Laser Tetra” given the appearance of the male during spawning. I hope to breed these fish and make them more available to the hobby. These fish originate from the lower Rio Negro river basin. Their native habitat consists a sand/silt bottom, bog wood, branches and some vegetation. The water these fish come from is extremely soft with a ph between 5 and 5.5. They may be an insectivore, but relish bloodworms.
