It is actually my longest mega mash-up ever as it exceeds a total of 18 minutes! I was really anxious about the long length of my mash-up, but I concluded that it was the best to let it like this so that the songs could breathe more. Also, surprisingly, the mash-up features 176 songs (including those that only appear as instrumental) which is a bit fewer than the past year, but please remember that it is still a huge number of songs to work with so please refrain on asking why a song is not here or where it is... Anyway, for this year, I really wanted my mashup to be more story-based since I thought my 2018 mashup was lacking in this aspect. I also felt that as I was trying to put a lot of different styles together, the sections were going too fast and all... That's why for this year, I was trying to make sections longer and put a lot more of thoughts of the story I wanted to give even though I did try to shorten parts because my mashup would exceed 20 minutes otherwise... Anyway, I noticed that this year, a lot of songs were about self-love and I decided to use this theme for the whole mashup, hence why the title of the mashup is "I ♥ MYSELF"! Also, I really got more personal with this project as I really focused the story of the mashup on what I went through in 2019. I didn't really talk about it much to anyone, but 2019 was a year where I really started thinking about myself more (about my future, my skills, myself in general...) as I reached the second decade of my life... It was a year with lots of ups and downs for me as I laughed a lot, but did cry a lot too... And this mashup is kind of my way to express myself more and message me to love myself more and become a better person. I still have a lot of work to do, but I think I'm starting to get better. Also, 2019 was the year I got lots of new friends and reconnected with people I didn't talk for a long time which really helped me get through my hardships. And for anyone who needs it, "hang in there and love yourself"! Speaking more about the mashup, the lyrics mostly talk about the journey of someone getting through the process of loving themselves and trying to be the best version of themselves, but I did have to put elements of romance in it since that's what most songs talk about and it's kind of hard to ignore this! So yeah, I hope my message will be able to be understood! As for K-POP in 2019, it had also some ups and downs. We got a lot of new talented groups and lots of underrated groups succeed to snatch their first win this year! But, we lost some amazing idols too who I hope are at peace now. It was a shock for me because I started being a K-POP fan during its second generation, so I just felt shocked seeing the news. So, that's why I am trying to put this self-love message in my mashup. As for the music, we did get a lot of genres this year. But, in all honesty, I did feel less attracted to them as they usually wouldn't fit my tastes much. That's why this year I started to get more open about other countries' music and even video game music. But, I don't say that the K-POP songs in 2019 were bad, cuz I have a lot of bops on my phone. I just did feel less into it this year and took a certain break from it during a time. But, I started to get more used to the sounds of 2019 in the second half of the year. I am just not happy with that mania of putting 'trap' beats in every song in all honesty... Anyway, I am looking forward to see what 2020 K-POP reserves for us! Anyway, I really hope you'll enjoy this project because I've put a lot of efforts into it. Also, for the video, I tried to match more colors and create a certain storyline, but it was quite hard because I had to handle more than 170+ MVs... But, I really hope you'll enjoy every bit of it! I'm still not sure what will happen in 2020, but I really hope the best for all of you guys!
