The cave is located at a lower level than current level of the road and the cave complex. The temple is made of basalt rock dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. In front of a cave there is a circular Nandi mandapa, its umbrella shaped shade supported by massive square pillars; It is now located in the downtown Jangli Maharaj Road Pune. It has been declared as a protected monument by the Government. The temple inculcates massive pillars, a Shiva shrine and a Nandi bull. Pataleshwar Cave Temples is dedicated to Lord Pataleshwar- the God of Underwater and Lord Shiva. The temple has highly decorated carvings on the black rocks present within it; Too dark inside hence idol in not visible Clearly. Major attraction of this temple is the celebration conducted here during the Mahashivratri and Shiv Jayanti. huge number of devotees gather here to worship Lord Pataleshwar and receive blessings during such festivals. You get some mystic feeling, nice place to worship and meditate. Calmness inside the caves is unbelievable. You will also come across a shrine dedicated to Lord Ram, Laxman, and Sita very beautiful.
