Teniendo en cuenta los altos índices de contaminación a nivel mundial, y que las prácticas agrícolas y ganaderas no realizadas correctamente contribuyen con el deterioro de los ecosistemas, la Secretaría de Agricultura, de la gobernación de Antioquia, inició varios proyectos silvopastoriles para el mejoramiento de la sostenibilidad técnica, económica y ambiental de los sistemas ganaderos en las subregiones de Urabá, Bajo Cauca, Norte y Nordeste.
