All train services between India and Bangladesh were suspended since March 2020 due to COVID-19 lockdown. Now, after 2 years, Maitree and Bandhan Express have been restored followed by inauguration of Mitali Express. This train will boost communication of North Bengal (India) and Bangladesh along with tourism. This train has been inaugurated on 01 Jun 2022. This train consists 4 1A and 4 CC followed by 2 EOG coaches. This is a "AC Express" class train and the rake belongs to North East Frontier Railways (NFR) and primary maintenance is done at New Jalpaiguri (NJP). The route of this train is via ABFC-RQJ-JPG-MDG-HDB-CLH-SDP-PBT-JMJ-STU-AUP-ISDB-JOI-JYR-TGI-DHCA. The loco link is SGUJ WDP-4D from New Jalpaiguri to Chilahati. Total journey distance is 499 Kms and is covered in 10:45 hrs @46 Kmph avg. It departs from NJP on Sun & Wed @11:45 hrs and reaches DAKA @22:30 hrs on the same day. This train has total 2 halts (technical) in the complete journey.
