McBride, a name that has become a staple amongst Tacoma Owners, if you haven’t seen his build yet, you haven’t been looking hard enough. Justin is a professional content man with skills in photography, videography, and even graphic design and it shows in the way he has designed his truck. It really is a thing of beauty. A 2016 TRD Sport Let’s address the elephant in the room, why would any serious off-roader want to buy a TRD Sport? It doesn’t come with all of the fancy bells and whistles that the TRD Off-Road comes with so it doesn’t really make much sense. If you ask Justin this, he’ll tell you that is exactly why he didn’t buy the TRD Off-Road, all of the crawl control and electronic locker aren’t something he is interested in. His truck was built with the intention of being a complete overhaul of the off-road systems which means rebuilding a rear differential for new gears and pneumatic lockers. The goal behind Justin’s build was to showcase a lot of the work done by CBI Offroad Fab, being that Justin works for them it would only stand to reason that he would run all of their top tier goodies, of which you can find an aluminum T3 Front Bumper which has been widened and inch on each side to match his extended fender flares. Similarly in the rear his dual swing arm high clearance rear from CBI has been widened by an inch on each side to fit snugly with those flares and provide added protection to that rear quarter panel. He is also running CBI’s early aluminum skid plates, the design has since been changed, but those early ones are still protecting his truck! In the bed you’ll find a bedslide, Snomaster fridge, bedside air compressor mount from Expedition Essentials, CBI Bedrack, Maxtrax, and a CVT Mt. Shasta Summit Series tent - this thing is basically livable with all the goodies he has back there, and that was the intention. Purpose Built Being that Justin is a professional photographer there are stints where he actually lives out of the truck. Carrying just a couple totes for food prep and personal hygiene, Justin can go extended periods without needing to head back to civilization and is sure to get the shot while explored the back woods. This Tacoma is absolutely one of our favorites, from the interior layout of additional gadgets and improved audio, to the living quarters and creature comforts that can be found around camp. If you are looking to do something similar to your Tacoma take a look around our site. Many of the additions and modifications found on Justin’s truck can be purchased here, it doesn’t happen over night, but we would love to help your dream build come true! www.tacomabeast.com
