Each team consists of 10 players, five of which are in play at any given time. Players score by dragging a carcass across the opposing team's goal line. Often the carcass gets ripped to shreds. Given the fact that the game is played with dead animals, it should come as no surprise that it’s an aggressive sports where the participants can play rough when competing against one another. Oil Wrestling Oil wrestling is held around the world, but the oldest competitions is in Kirkpinar, Edirne Turkey, held in June each year. The wrestling is part of a festival, dating back to 1357 celebrating an Ottoman victory. The participants are covered in olive oil and try to wrestle the other to the ground. Oil wrestling festivals also take place in northern Greece in the Eastern Macedonia and West Thrace. Unlike Olympic wrestling, oil wrestling matches may be won by achieving an effective hold of the kisbet. This style of wrestling is now popular in other countries, such as Netherlands and Japan. Bossaball Bossaball is spectacular new and unusual sport invented in Spain by Filip Eyckmans who developed the concept 2004. It is similar to volleyball, but also includes elements of football, gymnastics and capoeira. The game played on a specially designed inflatable court with a circular trampoline on each side of a net. It is a ball game between two teams, each consisting of three to five players. Points can be made either by scoring or by an opponent’s fault. When the ball contacts the floor within the court boundaries, the team on the opposite side of the net is awarded a score. Gurning Gurning is a word for pulling a face, and you probably are not surprised to know that there is a World Gurning Contest. Gurning competitions are originated in 1297 at the Egremont Crab Fair, in the UK. The competitions are held regularly in some villages, most often in pubs, with contestants traditionally framing their faces through a horse collar — known as "gurnin' through a braffin." Peter Jackman became England's best-known gurner, winning the world championship four times, beginning in 1998 with a face called the "Bela Lugosi, where he pulls his bottom lip over his nose. Kabaddi Kabaddi originated in Asia and is a combination or wrestling, tag, and holding one's breath. Two teams of stand on opposite sides of a field and take turns sending a 'raider' into the opponent's territory. The defenders must link arms and cannot break their chain. The raider attempts to tag the defenders while they try to stop him from returning to his side before taking a breath. The sport combines elements of rugby and wrestling as opponents struggle to keep one another from being tagged and returning to the opposing side. If it sounds confusing, that's because it is.
