His attention to detail is legendary and all his movies are layered in a way that demands multiple viewings. In fact, such was his reputation for filling his productions with various layers of meaning, that a documentary called ROOM 237 was made about the THE SHINNING, which explores this very notion. Kubrick displayed an intelligence in his movies that has not been seen anywhere else and he trusted the audience to decipher whatever meaning they wanted from the film. Kubrick died in 1999. Christopher Nolan Over the course of fifteen years Chris Nolan has gone from low-budget independent films to making the biggest blockbusters ever made and has become the hottest director in Hollywood in the process. As a kid Nolan began making short movies with his father's Super-8 camera. He went on to study English at University College London. His first film was FOLLOWING (1998) which had a budget of $6,000. Since then he’s directed many critically and commercially hits such as, INCEPTION, INSOMNIA, INTERSTELLAR and the BATMAN series. Seven out of 9 films Nolan directed are on the IMDB's top 250.
