@Another Five Reasons America Sucks

It even pays more than the median annual salary in eight states. So what’s the incentive to work? Catherine Lawrence, professor at the University of Albany, says that "neither welfare nor low-wage employment alone do a very good job supporting the health and well-being of families with children." It's hard to support one person on welfare or minimum wage. So if given the choice of working hard or sitting on your ass to make the same amount of money, which one will people choose? Religious Zeal Since the attacks of September 11th 2001, America has become very vocal against Islamic Extremism and the danger that it presents. But perhaps America should look at itself before judging others. As far as religious fundamentalism goes, America is no better than the Middle East. Abortion clinic bombings, LGBT hate crimes against, the KKK - all of these have roots in American Christian orthodoxy. In modern times, many Christians of America make sure that homosexuals, Muslims, Indians, atheists and everyone else who holds contrary beliefs are perfectly aware that they are not welcome. Incarceration There isn’t a single country in the world that is devoid of crime. Protecting law abiding citizens poses unique challenges in terms of catching, convicting and imprisoning law breakers. America seems to have mastered at least some obstacles normally posed by these challenges as visible by their incarceration rate… or they have a flawed justice system that is eager to imprison individuals. America has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with 743 people jailed per 100,000 people. Not even more strict military states, such as Russia, have an imprisonment rate as high. Always Being Right If there is one thing Americans love more than fast food, football, and God, it's being "right." If you're reading this and you're not American, perhaps you recognized this aspect of the American character. Being an American seems to make people closed-minded and gives them the ability to ignore facts, evidence and data. Here’s the proof: America has the highest percentage of Creationist in the World.If you're reading this and you are an American, chances are you're thinking something along this lines of, "this douche bag doesn't know what the hell he's talking about." Go on… prove our point! The Media The capitalistic nature of America has spawned some wonderfully creative companies and has contributed greatly to the welfare of the world. It’s also made its own media sensationalist and corrupt. News channels battle for viewer numbers and in doing so will forgo things like integrity, due diligence and the truth in order to get them to the top. Sadly it is the viewers that suffer. Sensationalism of celebrities and wealth (again in the battle for ratings) sets unrealistic standards and encourages materialism to unhealthy levels. The media says: what you own determines who you are.
