TalkinMakeUp's video: Animal Testing

@Animal Testing!!
MY BLOG SPOT http://talkinmakeup.blogspot.com/ *SEND ALL MAIL OR PACKAGES TO THE P.O. BOX BELOW* P.O. BOX 494 Sewell, NJ 08080 United States Animal Testing I hate that I use Makeup and Hair products that have been tested on animals! We all do! At least most Animal Rights Groups report that just about every major brand of cosmetics and hair products tests on animals! I have researched this so many times and never really came up with anything! I have found list after list of companies that Test on Animals! I have always heard about John Hopkins University and Penn State University having animal Laboratories so I decided to start there... I wanted to ask them....   Who regulates Animal Testing? Is it PETA? Is it The Humane Society? Is it a Government based or an Animal Rights group? Is animal testing nessecary? What animals are tested on for makeup? Where do these Labs get there animals from? Who gives that cute little Cruelty-Free stamp?   What do they do to the animals? John Hopkins University refused to answer me! Penn State was helpful they pointed me in the right direction! I haven't sorted everything out yet but I have answered my questions!   Animal Testing is regulated by Several Government Organizations, not Animal Rights Groups! For example PHS=Public Health Service, IACUC=Institutional Animal Care Use Committees  The IACUC is the group that decides weather or not Animal Testing is warranted!   There are laws enforcing the Humane treatment and protection Vertebrate Animals! Vertebrate Animals are Dogs Cats Moneys this term covers a lot of species excluding animals that have been bred for testing! There are NO Laws at this time protecting Invertebrate Animals Mice Rats Frogs and Birds Bred for Testing! I found out that the FDA Does NOT require Animal Testing on cosmetics! Makeup is not subject to pre market approval form the FDA either! However according to the FD&C Act ( Federal Food Drug & Cosmetics)   Its pretty much on the hands of the Makeup Manufactures to decide how to go about the process of ensuring customer safety! There are a list of Natural Ingredients that can be and have been proven safe! Its when a NEW Ingredient is being researched that the testing is being done! Another word for New Ingredient is a New Chemical or Toxin! Mostly all the cosmetic testing being done in the US is for General Toxicity, Eye and Skin Irritation,Toxicity triggered by Ultraviolet Light, then we have last but not at all least Mutagenicity! The reason I say it like that is  Mutagenicity is the study of chemicals and how they can and if the can Alter our Permanent Genetics! WOW!   The Cruelty Free stamp of approval where does that come from? Is it from a respected Animal Right groups or is it just some made up garbage to make us feel good about ourselves when buying makeup hairspray shampoos and such? I do believe these cruelty free markings on cosmetics come from wonderful organizations with there hearts in there right place! Most of these Cruelty Free companies are hard to find when was the last time that you saw a Vegan Makeup Section at the Drugstore? I will tell you when NEVER! Now with that being said I feel like I can never read an accurate Cruelty Free list because either the criteria to get on the Good List is too Strict, or a parent and/or a sister company gets  dings on there record if they have been or are associated with companies that test on animals! Some list put names on the Bad List for wearing a Fur Coat in an Ad! That does NOT mean they were cruel to animals and did testing during the production of that certain product or products! I have mentioned several times before that I have worked for Estee Lauder MAC and Clinque all claiming to be Cruelty Free and they were on the Bad Lists! I feel like its a BIG Mess and we need to speak up and say that we have a right to know who's testing on what and mark these items accordingly! France has issued a Sales BAN starting 2013 on any makeup products that are sold by companies Testing on Animals! England  has a beautiful rational policy concerning animal rights  called animal liberation. They say that non human animals should be afforded the same consideration of the most basic interests  they do however feel as though animals should be regarded as non humans but should be members of the moral community and should not be used for Food, Clothing, Research Subjects, or Entertainment! Cosmetic Testing has been BANNED in the Netherlands and Belgium! So lets see Congress controls the FDA and what we want is for the FDA to either Ban all animal tested cosmetics or at least  the right to know what is being tested and Who is Testing we have to petition our Local Congressmen!  Its just a matter of adjusting a few old out dated laws! That all I have for now I will be posting a follow up on this subject! Thank you all!
