This weeks episode of Talking Whiskey has two whiskeys that are aged in wine barrels. This gives these two whiskeys a unique flavor. Angel's Envy Kentucky veteran and Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee Lincoln Henderson is behind this port barrel finished bourbon. This Kentucky straight bourbon is aged on the top floors of the rickhouse before spending six months finishing in port barrels. Eight to ten barrels are used for each batch. Second Glance A new whiskey from Napa Valley winemaker Dave Phinney from Savage & Cooke. Lots distilled in Kentucky were aged a minimum of 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels, before being finished in wine barrels from Dave's Napa Valley Cabernet projects. It has a mash bill of 95% corn, 4% rye, 1% malted barley.
