Differences: -Minimalism has a variety of criteria by which to discard stuff. KonMari only has one criterion. -KonMari places a significant amount of attention to where you put things. Which isn't something you hear much about with minimalism. -KonMari can seem to slant more towards cherishing and respecting things. Minimalism can slant more towards detaching from things and not being obsessed with things. -Minimalism is an emerging movement with many voices, KonMari is the brainchild of just one person, Marie Kondo. -KonMari is the only method that has a clear, achievable goal in mind. KonMari definitely prepares your home to put you on a good path towards being a minimalist if you so desire. It gets the bulk of the work done with clearly outlined strategies, so you are left with something much more manageable. Once the bulk is gone, if and only if you wish, you can begin applying some more minimalist criteria to the remaining items in your home.
