The Poet: Muhammad Saleem محمد سلیم ، more commonly known as Saleem Kausar سلیم کوثر (takhallus Saleem سلیم) was born in 1947 in the historical Panipat پانی پت, Delhi Division دہلی, Punjab پنجاب, India. His family moved to Pakistan after the partition of the subcontinent in 1947 and settled in Khanewal خانیوال (then a Tehsil تحصیل in the Multan ملتان District of Multan Division), Punjab. He passed his matriculation (10th grade ) examination in Khanewal. Then the family moved to Kabirwala کبیر والا (near Khanewal, also in Multan). There he read his poetry in different mushairas in southern Punjab, and on Radia Pakistan Multan. In 1972 he moved to Karachi کراچی, Sindh سندھ, Pakistan. He wrote in various newspapers and joined PTV (Pakistan Television) Karachi in 1975. The Singer: Mehdi Hassan Khan مہدی حسن خان was born in Luna لونا, Rajasthan راجھستان , India in 1927. After partition of the Indian Sub-continent, he moved to Pakistan in 1947. He first sang on Radio Pakistan in 1952. He was awarded three of the highest civil awards (Hilal-e Imtiaz ہلالِ امتیاز , Tamgha-e Imtiaz تمغۂِ امتیاز , and Pride of Performance Award تمغۂِ حسنِ کارکردگی ) by the Government of Pakistan. He passed away on 13 June 2012 in Karachi کراچی, Pakistan, after suffering chronic illnesses for over a decade. Tariq Akbar 10 October 2014
