@The best books on Existential Risk - Recommended by The Center for the study of Existential Risk
1. The Last Children by Gudrun Pausewang - https://amzn.to/2Csg7RJ 2. Canticle for Leibowitz -by Walter M. Miller Jr. - https://amzn.to/2CRIGcz 3. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - https://amzn.to/2CRIVEv 4. Climate Shock The Economic Consequences of a Hotter Planet - https://amzn.to/2J6NKtO 5. The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu - https://amzn.to/2q2K8QB 1. Set in a situation of cold war, it is told in the first person by a 12 year old boy who travels with his parents to visit his grandparents and is surprised in the journey by a nuclear attack. No help arrives and survivors assume that the entire civilized world might have been destoryed. 2. In a post apocalyptic world, there is very little surviving information about the 'old' world. A group of monks work to preserve whatever information they can find, but without understanding what any of it really means. 3. This book is a collection of short stories. All, the individual stories are excellent and engrossing. 4. This book examines climate change and global warming using the tools of risk management and economic analysis. The result is shocking, as the title implies. Basically stated, the possibility of global catastrophe is probable by the year 2100 if we continue on our present course. 5. In The Dark Forest, Earth is reeling from the revelation of a coming alien invasion-in just four centuries' time. The aliens' human collaborators may have been defeated, but the presence of the sophons, the subatomic particles that allow Trisolaris instant access to all human information, means that Earth's defense plans are totally exposed to the enemy. Only the human mind remains a secret
