Follow us on Twitter: @TechInRL Improve Your iPhone Battery Life (how to) Welcome to my video about how to increase your iPhones daily battery. In this video I’m going to tell you about the tips & tricks to get more time out of your daily iPhone battery charge. The 1st tip is pretty simple, keep the display brightness on low. The brighter the display the more power it takes. This can be changed easily in control centre, to change the brightness just swipe down from the upper right corner to access control centre. Here you can adjust the brightness of your display easily, try to keep it as low as you can to save more power. If you have an iPhone with an OLED display such as an iPhone X, Xs or 11 Pro you can also extend your battery life by using dark mode. To make this change go to the settings app, scroll down & choose display & brightness. If you have automatic light/dark mode turned on switch it off & choose dark mode. The next thing I’d recommend to extend your iPhones daily battery life is to turn off background app refresh. To adjust those settings run the settings app & choose general, then background app refresh. If possible I’d recommend Turing it off to maximize the energy savings, but if you need this feature for some apps that are important to you then you can selectively control this feature per app. The next thing I’d recommend changing is similar to background app refresh in concept, it’s location services. But if you frequently use apps like Uber, skip the dishes or a weather app those all require location services to function, so you may not want to turn it off completely. To access the location services settings run the settings app & scroll down & select Privacy, then choose location services. You can completely turn them on or off with the switch at the top or scroll down & adjust them by the app if you think you’ll need some. Try to keep most of them off. To adjust by app tap the app, in the settings that come up you have the options for never, ask next time, while using the app & always. I’d recommend using either never for off or while using the app for things like Uber or Skip the dishes as opposed to always so you’ll still realize some power savings. The next adjustment I’d recommend making is to turning off active listening or the Listen for hey siri option. To turn off this option run the settings app, scroll down & select Siri & search & switch off listen for “hey Siri”. The other option I’d recommend adjusting has to do with modifying your email fetch options. To adjust these options run the settings app, scroll down & choose passwords & accounts, then choose fetch new data. You can turn on the push option to have services like icloud send you mail as it comes in. When you go into an email address to adjust the setting you can setup either push, fetch or manual. Manual is the most power efficient as it will only fetch new email data whenever you check your email manually. The last two things I’m going to share with you to extend your daily battery life are a little extreme I feel. First is low power mode. This turns off non essential background tasks & even slows down processing for some apps extending your daily battery life even further. To toggle low power mode on or off go to control centre by swiping down from the upper right & press the low power mode button. On a side note, if you need to charge your iPhone as fast as possible you can put your phone in low power mode when charing & it will charge faster! The last thing I’m going to talk about to extend your daily iPhone battery life is to turn off bluetooth. If you have an Apple Watch, use AirPods or other bluetooth headphones often, or even rely on handoff or continuity features then you may want to reconsider turning this off, as its required for all these things to function. So to turn off the bluetooth radio transmitter you’ll need to go to settings & choose bluetooth. When you adjust the setting from here it will actually turn on or off the bluetooth transmitter. These are some of the most common features you can adjust on your iPhone to extend your daily battery life. There are more I didn’t address in this video, so if you’d like to hear about more options & ways to extend your iPhones daily battery life please let me know in the comments, if enough people want more, I’ll make a part 2!
