In this video I’ll tell you what is currently known about this situation & the steps you have to resolve it, so stay tuned! The flashing green light on the AirPods case phenomena has been around since they came out. It can effect both the Regular AirPods & the AirPods pro. The resolution for this issue is the same for both. Fortunately it’s not overly common, but if it happens to you it can be very annoying! As of the writing of this video there still aren’t any official Apple Support documents about what this means. But from research online & anecdotal evidence it looks like it means either one of your AirPods are no longer paired or setup to work with the other AirPod or charging case. But it can also mean one AirPod didn’t charge for some reason. Those are the most common descriptions that have been encountered when this happens. If you get the flashing green AirPods case light the first step is to clean your AirPods. Make sure there isn’t any debris on the charging contacts at the bottom of tubes in the case. Also make sure that the charging contacts at the bottom of the AirPods stems themselves are clean, as they charge through the metal contacts that surround the Mics. If you’d like to learn more details about how to clean your AirPods check out my video: How to clean AirPods, I’ll leave a link in the description below if you’d like to check that out. Once they’re cleaned make sure the AirPods are returned to the case & charge them for at least 15 min. Hopefully this resolves the issue. If the issue persists then your next step is to unpair & reset your AirPods. It doesn’t matter if they are currently connected to your iPhone or not while you do this. To unpair or uninstall your AirPods open the bluetooth menu on your iPhone by going to settings & then choosing bluetooth. Choose “Forget this device”, if a confirmation window appears continue to forget the device. This will unpair or uninstall the AirPods from your iPhone & all other devices connected to the same iCloud account. Now that they are unpaired from your iPhone you can reset your AirPods. If you’re not sure how to reset your AirPods check out my video “How to Reset Your AirPods!” For detailed instructions showing you how. I’ll leave a link in the description below so you can check that out. Once they’re reset then you can pair or setup your AirPods back with your iPhone again. Hopefully the status light on the case will stop blinking green now. If the issue still persists even after reset the last option you have is a long shot, but has on occasion resolved the issue, it’s to update the AirPods firmware version. This is not something you can really completely control. But to encourage it to happen make sure your AirPods are in the charging case, now plug them into a charger. Make sure they are close to your iPhone & that it too is plugged in. Make sure your iPhone has wifi while in this situation. Now you just sit back & wait. Usually if the firmware is out of date it will automatically update within an hour. To check the AirPods firmware version connect your AirPods or AirPods Pro to your iPhone, then open settings on your iPhone, go to general, then scroll down & choose your AirPods or AirPods Pro. Once you’re in this menu you’ll see things like your model number, serial number & firmware version. As of this video the current updated firmware version is 2C54 for both gen 2 AirPods & AirPods pro. If the issue is still persisting then you’ll need to go to the Apple store & have the problem component serviced or replaced. Hopefully the blinking green light doesn’t happen to you, but if it does, now you know the steps to hopefully fix it! Have you ever encountered the blinking green light on your AirPods case, how did you resolve it? Is there a better trick to fix it? Please share your thoughts in the comments!
